In the story, the conflict is that Dave's mom is abusing him."Then she would order me to say over and over again, "I'm a bad boy! I'm a bad boy! I'm a bad boy!" I was then forced to stand, staring into mirror." The problem started when Dave started to get introuble at school and at home. I think this conflict is happening because without the conflict the happy ending can't happen. They didn't use an important because a important event does not lead to a good thing of cliff hanger. This is a problem because Dave is just a kid and his mom is just abusing for doing bad at school and not cleaning his room."After a while, I was usually sent to sleep in the garage." This problem affect Dave because is trying to make his way to survive the abusing and the starvation. Dave is reacting to the conflict by obeying on what his mom is telling him to do and trying to stop the abusing ,but nothing is working. The conflict is external conflict because its between his mom and Dave. The conflict is stuational because it causes alot of more problems.

My main characters are Dave and he is the child that is beaten up by his mom. Another character is Mother (Catherine) and she is Dave's mom and beats him for no apparent reason. Dave (author of the book) is important because he talks about his story about being abused by his Mother. Mother is important because she is brought up in the story as the mom of Dave and the ways she punished Dave in brutal ways. In the story Dave at first is a bad, obnoxious boy but in the middle of the story he turned into a innocent, weak boy. " My relationship with Mom drastically changed from discipline to punshiment that grew out of control"; Dave Pelzer writes in the book A Child Called "It"." Standing there in the kitchen, listing to her boast, gave me a feel of emptiness'; Dave mentions in the book A Child Called "It". Mother (Catherine) is a described as a monster and horrible mother. " Mother would simply grab me and smash my face aganist the mirror, smearing my tear-streaked face on the slick, reflective glass"; Dave states in A Child Called "It". Dave is first a good/bad boy like a any other boy. Then when his mom starts abusing him he starts feeling empty inside, worthless, and lonely. Dave's mom was first nice and careful. Then when Dave started getting introuble she started to turn mean and abuse Dave.
